Eligibility

Kloepfer Family Foundation, Inc. Scholars should be a native of Leslie County, Kentucky. Applicants are required to supply birth certificate records for verification. To be eligible for the scholarship program, applicants must apply during the fall term of their 5th grade school year. Student applicants should possess a strong academic record (generally a GPA above 3.5 or mostly “A” grades), a high level of performance in reading, mathematics and science as reflected on student Kentucky Performance Rating for Educational Progress Report, Positive Attendance Report, and exemplary conduct.  Student should possess a strong will to succeed as well as participate in community and school related activities.

 

Criteria and Process

To qualify for the Kloepfer Family Foundation, Inc. Scholarship Program, a student must meet the following basic selection criteria:

  • Applicants must be a native of Leslie County, Kentucky and currently reside there and attend the Leslie County Public School System or Red Bird Mission.

  • Applicants must be enrolled as 5th grade students for the first time.

  • Applicants must be first generation college going students/parents may not have a bachelors degree and at least one parent must be a native of Leslie County.

  • Applicants must possess a strong academic record and a desire to attend college and earn a four-year degree.

  • Applicants agree to apply to the University of Kentucky directly after high school if they are awarded the KFF scholarship.

  • Applicants must exhibit excellent character and sign an agreement to not commit a crime and to remain drug free.

  • Applicant must agree to apply for all financial aid (not loans) and other scholarships in a timely manner, if named a Kloepfer Scholar.

 

Students will apply during the fall of the year with the application deadline being set for December 31. Student applications are screened with 9-10 applicants being selected for interviews. The winning applicant is selected and notified during the month of April.
